The other day I suggested the kids cue up something on Netflix, as they needed a little down time and well, so did I. I had heard about a show called “Wild Kratts” and so I searched and found a ton of episodes. I knew it was something educational but I had no idea it was so entertaining (even for me, yes I sat and watched an episode and a half).
The first episode we watched was called “Seasquatch” and it was all about these two guys making their way down below sea and what was at the very bottom, as they searched for their buddies video game controller that he dropped in the water. The adventurous stories include animated characters based on two real-life brothers, Chris and Martin Kratt, and some of their friends, all who are quite smart.
I have since started calling my kids “Wild Kratts” because yes, they are wild. Ever heard of Spring Fever? Yeah, we got it here!
Last week they were out playing in the backyard in some beautiful sunshine, that we were all so happy to see after many days of dreariness and rain. They were jumping and climbing and running and doing what kids should do. Everyone was so happy to be outside, enjoying the outdoors. Even the dog. See?
I’m always searching for the balance between time spent inside with “screen time” and time outside, letting the kids just do whatever. I do think that we do a pretty good job and I also know that shows like Wild Kratts help me feel better about the time watching television because they are educational as well as entertaining. And SO easy to pull up on my Netflix streaming.
This time of the year though, more time will most definitely be spent outside, as we soak up the days before the stifling humidity begins and the mosquitoes try to carry us away. I wonder if there has been a Wild Kratts episode about those yet… hmmmm…
