I have this ever-present internal struggle with food. I’m pretty sure I have talked about this here before. I’m not going to delve into all the “pshyco-babble” about why, who, what or where, just know it’s there. So, in an effort to help myself eat and drink more healthily, I have been looking for any way to encourage myself to do so (and also teach my kids to) lately.
So, when Uncommon Goods contacted me about featuring some of the products from their catalog, I was more than happy to choose a couple of products that were good for this goal. One of them is more practical while the other is more cute but they are both both of those things.
The first thing I decided on was the flavor infuser water bottle. One of my goals has been to drink more water during the day, instead of other not-so-good-for-me drinks. This handy dandy bottle has a compartment in which you put cut-up fruits and/or veggies and then place within the water. Then, after refrigerating for a couple of hours, Voila! you have tasty, freshly-infused H2O. And doesn’t it just look so pretty too?
I have been much better about it lately and the kids have even wanted to drink it since it looks special and different. Unfortunately the bottle is a little small (I do wish it were a bit bigger) and I am not the best at sharing for that reason.
If you’re like me and need to drink more water, I would say try this baby out, especially this time of year, fruit-infused water is just so refreshing!
The next product that I had already geeked-out on in their catalog when I received it during the holidays last year, was the the cheese and crackers board that has the cutout of a “&” where you place your cheese and crackers. Adorable, right?! Right.
This board would be perfect for appetizer bites before dinner, when you have guests over or a for a wine and cheese tasting. However, I decided to use it the first time as a a dinner tray. Yep, you read that right. I served my kids (and husband) dinner on this baby. See?
The kids scarfed down this “meal” and K kept saying “this is the best dinner ever” because she is the queen of snacking!! I was trying to come up with a cute name for it like “snacker” (that’s not that cute) or “sninner” but I didn’t want to feel guilt-ridden while eating so… my friend Tracy suggested “bits and bites” since her family calls is that when she has this for their evening meal, so that is now our name for it. (thanks, Tracy, you’re the best namer!)
I am really impressed with Uncommon Goods, especially since most of the products they feature are made here in the U.S.A. and many use recycled or upcycled materials. Plus they make an effort to support individual artists and designers which means they encourage creativity and unique-ness. That’s why they are called “uncommon” – you are not going to find these products everywhere.
Mother’s Day is coming up and they have great jewelry and all kinds of other gifts so you may want to go check it out now so you can decide what to tell your hubby to get you or get for your mom or other mother figure in your life ME. 🙂
*I received these products from Uncommon Goods for review and my honest opinions. No other compensation was received for my thoughts.
