I was fourteen years old when The Little Mermaid first came out in theaters. I remember sitting in my seat, mesmerized by the animation and songs. My favorites were of course, “Part of your World” but also, “Les Poissons”. I had taken French in middle school and loved that some of the words in the song were in French.
I adored the movie so much that I played the soundtrack over and over and even bought a stuffed Flounder when I went to Disney World a couple of years later.
Fast forward 24 years and guess what? I still love the movie and so does my daughter. I might have caught my boys watching the movie with her too and I may be singing the songs over and over lately since we received our awesome Diamond Edition copy. What? I can pretend to be a beautiful, young, red-haired mermaid with a voice of gold for just a little bit, right?
This new version contains digitally restored picture and sound, a digital copy of the film, and a variety of never-before-seen bonus features, including the music video for Grammy®-nominated superstar Carly Rae Jepsen’s recording of the film’s beloved song, “Part of Your World.”
After watching it again I even have a new affinity for Sebastian. Probably because I am a parent now. And perhaps I think it’s kind of fun to call a few random, odd things around our house a “dingle hopper.” 😉
Oh and Ursula? Still NOT nice. K likes to bury her head in my shoulder when she comes on the screen. But I do find her big number pretty amusing too and I sing along to it also.
And of course, it all turns out okay in the end. I mean, you knew that, right? 😉
So who wants a copy of this brand, spankin’ new version? Trust me, YOU do! I have one copy to give away so enter below!
