You know how you have this idea to record your adorable kid(s) because they are just so “DANG CUTE” lately and so you run and get your phone to keep their latest milestone and super cuteness for posterity? And to post it on your blog for all of your twenty-ish readers to see??

Yeah, that was me on Tuesday night.

G has started reading a few books that his teacher has sent home and on Monday night he read six in a row to me so I figured he was ready for The Big Time on Tuesday – to read to his preschool sister.

I just love the beginning reading stage because they are so cute, trying to figure out words.  I also adore it because it is just REALLY cool to see your child finally get it and to have the ability to read words and even entire sentences.

During our little session the other night, occasionally he would ask for help with a word. He had particular trouble with “over” from one of the books he was reading.  We had written the word “very” for one of his homework sentences earlier that afternoon and he saw “ver” together and thought it was the same word and got all excited.  I explained to him that it was a little different and we “sounded it out” as we often do.

Fast forward to Tuesday night… For some reason he confuses the small letters of “b” and “d” and just cannot seem to get the word “by”.

Now, I need you to view this video to see how he is doing and you must watch until the VERY end to hear what he says to me (turn it up!)

Did you catch that?  I told him the word in the book, he got frustrated with me and he said the “H” word.

At first I was disappointed because I thought he had messed up the video, that I would never want to post that, but when I watched it (a few times) again and all I could do was laugh.  My favorite part is actually his face palm.  Hilarious!!

This child truly cracks me up.  One minute he is looking at me for help and the next he is hating on me.

Did he really mean it? No. Should he say that word to me or anyone? Of course not, but that is just how he expressed his anger with me.  Did we talk about it after I was done recording?  YES, we did.  And I told him that I thought he wanted my help by the way he looked at me.

In the end we decided that I will wait to help him with a word until he actually ASKS me.  And he will not use the “H” word ever again (yeah right).

And in all fairness I was just trying to speed up the reading time because it was past sister’s bed time and I was just ready to be done finding the damn cat already!!

I mean, you can understand, right?

P.S. MY KID CAN READ!  SO exciting! 😀
