I am just about coming out of my carb coma from this long weekend full of pie and well, CARBS.  Sooo many carbs, my friends.

I think that small dollop of green been casserole I plopped on my plate totally cancelled them out though, don’t you?

Absolutely not.

Our trip over the river and through the woods (we really did cross a couple of rivers and there were lots of trees on the side of the highway so I’m going with it) took us to Texas to see Tim’s side of the family and be with our friends, The Clarks, who are always kind enough to house us while we are there.

See the “woods” in the background?

We worked out the Thanksgiving Day menu with Tim’s aunt, uncle and cousins and we really did not have much to do for the meal since we were traveling, but I still felt the need to bake the night before.  So, I made Jen’s pecan pie cookies. Y’all, they really taste like mini pecan pies and are SO much easier to make.  So yes, the coma induction commenced the night before. What!?!? Sugar is good.

Our day was relaxing and we were SOFULL by the time we left Tim’s mom’s house on Turkey Day.  And when we got back to our friends’ home and Tim said (and I quote), “I can’t eat anymore tonight” I of course, nodded in agreement.  Guess what we were doing an hour later?

EATING.

Thanksgiving food is EVIL.

But family is awesome, and it was so nice to spend time with Tim’s side of the family, including his lovely Grandparents that I consider my grandparents too.

On Friday we hit up Holiday in the Park at Six Flags.  I admit, I was a little reluctant to go because I thought K might get tired too quickly (we are now, and have been for a while, a no stroller family) and that it would not be worth the price of our tickets.  I was wrong, wrong, WRONG.  That girl went until 8:45 at night and I only had to carry her back to the van for a little bit of the walk.  Of course she passed out on the way home but she was a trooper!  And we had SUCH a good time!  As I said in my Instagram pic of this pic, sometimes my hubby has good ideas. 😉

I love roller coasters. And unlimited hot cocoa. With sprinkles and whipped cream.

Damn sugar.

And Tim’s brother, Keith came with us so we were able to ride the big rides without worrying about the kids.

And my biggest boy rode the Titan, the 7th tallest roller coaster in the country.  His Dad was so proud.  I mean, I rode it too, what’s the big deal?

Oh wait, I’m not 9.

p.s. the Flash Pass ROCKS!

We had great weekend and I do think I worked off a little of those carb calories walking around the amusement park, so that’s good.

p.s. All of the photos in this post were taken with my new Sony RX100 II that Tim gave me for our anniversary.  It is a really nice and super handy point-n-shoot.  And it is SO easy to transfer a pic to your phone, so that is how the family photo of us quickly became an Instagram shot!

And no, neither Sony nor Six Flags paid me to write this post.  Darn it.

So tell me, how was YOUR holiday?
