It’s been hot. And when I say “hot” I mean “really darn hot”. So, this past week the kids and I mostly stayed in. We did walk the dog one morning. However, since we were all running back and forth to the shady spots on our neighborhood streets and sweating A LOT after one block, we decided to come home rather quickly. One kid may have re-enacted the whole “we won the sports championship let’s pour Gatorade all over the coach” moment too… But anyway…
We also played quite a few board games and card games. I taught Ben how to play Scrabble but I have a bit of vocabulary advantage over him and it didn’t seem very fair. Plus, he’s never played before so… He was a good sport about it though and I believe he learned a few new words so Hey! Summer School! 😉
The boys and I also played the game of LIFE and it cracked me up that they were both trying to fill their tiny cars full of kids. Ben ended up with 6 children and was so thrilled. Yeah, good luck with that buddy.
After games and fort-building and tormenting the dog, they finally decided some t.v. time might be okay so I sat them down with the Dragons: Race to the Edge series on Netflix.
At first I thought Ben might give it a pass but he ended up liking it just as much as his younger brother and sister. Plus they were pretty stoked to watch it after receiving a bunch of goodies from the series last week and giving me reason to take their picture, yet again.
I am quite thankful to Netflix actually, for providing entertainment for my children during these dog days of summer because nothing really beats hanging out on the couch in the A/C right now. These series are great because the kids can sit down and watch a few episodes at a time and then go back to it later. My kids like that the music is the same as the movies and that they can see what happened between the two.
What are your kids (0r you) watching on Netflix lately?
