Mondays are kinda crazy.
It’s usually my laundry day.
All of the kids go to school but after school we have Cathechism (or Catholic education) for B. I also usually go grocery shopping on Mondays.
So, after dropping K off at school at 9, I head to the gym, come home, get cleaned up, have a bit of computer time, eat lunch, do laundry and then go shopping. Once the groceries are put away it’s time to go back and pick up K and then we have about 30 minutes before it is time to get the boys.
Then after they load up in the van we have about 45 minutes until church school. I bring snacks in the van and we head to church where there is a playground where the kids can play before and during B’s class.
Last Monday (a week ago) the little ones fell asleep on the way to the church…
(G rarely falls asleep anymore)
And I smiled like a Cheshire cat.
B is now old enough to get himself to class on his own (a.k.a. they do not MAKE you escort your 3rd-grader to class) so I shooshed him out of the van and high-tailed it to Starbucks.
I posted this pic on Instagram.
Yeah.
PURE BLISS.
Except for K’s little snores, it’s like they weren’t even there.
And of course I’m glad they were. I am just really glad they were passed out.
That was a damn good Light Caramel Frappucino.
😀
So, tell me, what would you have done if both of your little ones were passed out asleep?

Sometimes, I am almost astounded by a) that both my kids are asleep at the same time and b) the quiet. I can hear myself breathe. 🙂

Probably just sit there and check my Twitter or Facebook. I love the quiet of being in the car so much.
Kat says
Awesome. 🙂

Oh gosh, I don’t know what I would do. It’s literally been years since either of my boys fell asleep. I probably would hit the highway and just drive to keep them sleeping longer.
What a nice way to spend your time waiting for B….mmmmm Starbucks.

I would have done the exact same thing! Yay for quiet time! Everyone needs a quiet break every once in a while, especially on Mondays! 🙂

It’s always crazy that they can sleep with their heads like that. But, hey, whatever works. Well, you didn’t drug them, did you? 🙂 That *might* be crossing the line! 🙂 If my little one fell asleep, I’d have to keep driving. As soon as you turn the car off, he wakes up…

Oh when my boys were littler, any time they fell asleep in the car, we’d stop for treats and leave the motor running, lest they wake up. They actually do still fall asleep sometimes in the car. It still feels like school letting out when you look back and realize the second one is nodding off.

AHAHAHA! Those are rare moments to cherish, aren’t they? 🙂

My son had a 2 month stint in a large daycare center while our home care was on maternity leave. Nate would not sleep there so would fall asleep in the car every day on the way home. I was so sad that he hadn’t napped that I used to drive around a huge park we have here and then park and read a book while he slept. 🙂

I would’ve parked and read through my favorite blogs on my phone or made a run to Dunkin’ Donuts where I could get a yummy chai tea for myself and surprised the kids with donuts when they woke up and/or came out from class. We rarely get donuts so this would’ve been a treat for all of us.

HAHAHA!!! Once when my son fell asleep, I got starbucks and sat in the parking lot for a half hour. No lie.

i cannot even fathom.
my 4yo littlegirl is so very done with naps (for way longer than was necessary!) and sleeping in the car was a rarity!
you did the right thing.
nicole says
The same thing, only a large unsweet iced tea. Heck. I get that when they’re awake! But they do both fall asleep in the school pickup line fairly often. I love it.
Dumb Mom says
Oh yes, Starbucks. And, why can’t they make booster seats kids don’t have to fall out of? Damn you, science, catch up!
