The Sickies (also known as “us”) – Miss Elaine-ous Monday

October 10, 2011 by Elaine

Someone has been sick in this house since last Thursday morning.

It started with me. I’ll spare you the details but let’s just say a stomach bug found us.

Tim and The B Man left for work and school as usual, but by 9:15 or so that morning I was calling him to come rescue me.  I believe some of my words on the phone included, but were not limited to, “I cannot take care of kids right now.”

And then I barely got out of bed for the next 2 days, my time comprised of aching, sweating, moaning, drinking through a straw and moaning some more.

Stomach bugs can kiss my…. well, you know…

And then of course, Tim turned up sick EARLY Saturday morning.

For some reason he seems to always have the need to “beat” me at the sick thing and it hit him somewhat worse.  His fever even topped out at a .05 more than mine.  He’s so damn competitive sometimes.  😉

And now, it’s my poor, sweet first born, who usually seems to escape these types of things.  Not this time.

I’m regretting not purchasing stock in the Dr. Pepper company (for the amount of Canada Dry Gingerale we’ve consumed) and whichever company makes saltines (Nabsico?) and Campbell’s, you know for the plain chicken noodle soup, not the canned kind but the “fancy” out of the box/packet kind. Oh and Malt O Meal.  Does anyone else beside us still even eat Malt O Meal, except for people born before 1950?  I don’t care.  It’s good when you’re sick.

(p.s. none of those were sponsored mentions, but if Dr. Pepper can spare some, we really love Canada Dry Gingerale, you know, when we’re SICK. he he.)

Anyway, we think K already had a tinge of this even though she never had fever and G is most certainly NOT out of the woods yet.  The incubation period is approximately 36 hours.  The clock is ticking.

If you’re reading this, I’m hoping everyone at your house is well and stays well.

Peace out
(no one says that anymore do they?  I’m getting old.)

Oh and a photo, because I like it.

David loves malt-o-meal. I can’t eat any kind of hot, mushy cereal. Blech. You know all about my hate for oatmeal.

    October 10, 2011 at 8:46 pm

UGH! My husband does the SAME thing. If we both get it, his is worse. We’re both “getting over” a sinus thing. Except I started feeling under the weather on Saturday and he started feeling it a week or so ago. I”m only allowed a good 24 hours or so of sickness.

  23. Julia Hunter says

    October 11, 2011 at 12:09 am

Canada Dry ginger ale and saltines cure all, I swear. Hope everyone gets well real soon.

  24. Kami's Khlopchyk says

    October 11, 2011 at 1:48 am

Oh man, we have been there too only it is me that has to get it the worst usually. I hope you all well and if G and K get it, it’s not too terrible.

And I am kinda proud it is still called Canada Dry Ginger Ale down there. It’s out brand of choice too 🙂

  25. Loukia says

    October 11, 2011 at 2:49 am

Canada Dry ginger ale is my favorite and not just because I’m Canadian! In all seriousness, I’m sorry you guys have been so sick… it’s never fun, is it? When I’m sick it’s almost impossible to take care of my children… and when hubs gets sick, forget it – hello, man cold! But when the little ones are sick, that’s the absolute worst, isn’t it? It is so awful to see our babies sick. Hope your house is completely healthy soon!
