Sew…… {WW}

January 12, 2011 by Elaine

Note: before reading this post, just so you know, all things in fancy brackets are the REAL me coming out.

Tim got me a sewing machine for Christmas… per my request.

{WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?}

I decided to start on my first project last week while people were sick, etc.

{WHAT THE HELL WAS I THIKNING?!?!}

It didn’t go so well at first.

{gee, can’t imagine why… haven’t sewn since 1995… in a classroom with a teacher and a seem ripper fused to my arm}

I’m kinda flying by the seat of my pants on this one and if K ends up being able to wear this dress outside the house it will be nothing short of a miracle.

{ANYONE want to come HELP me?!?!}

My scrap-booking desk is now a sewing {CUSSING UNDER MY BREATH} desk.

 It kinda looks like a dress, no? (straps will be turned the right way when finished.  Or they SHOULD be anyway…)

{please pray for me as I try to finish it…}

    Looks pretty good to me. I’ll stick to quilting. Sort of.

    You can totally do it. Just follow the directions and keep a straight line.

    I got a sewing machine for Christmas as well! I made our stockings with it and with all my pregnant friends have tons of burp cloths, bibs, and blankets in the works! I’m teaching myself as I go…so at times, it can be very frustrating! So I know how you feel! I eventually want to try to make clothes for the girls but haven’t ventured there quite yet!

    I love the material!

    I can tell you that you’re doing a much better job than I would do.

    You are ten steps ahead of me.

    You took a class.

    You have a machine.

    You knew what to do with the pattern.

    And, you have the makings of a dress there!

    Can’t wait to see the final product.

    I’m no help whatsoever. I stay away from machines like that – they terrify me. But I think you’ve got what it takes. Stick at it, and think of all the wonderful things you’ll make!

    I am so “in” to you sewing. I have a machine in my office that I can’t get to thread. How pathetic is that????

    I can’t even sew a button, so I’m very impressed at the moment!

    I’m so jealous of your sewing skills. I’m lucky if I can reattach a lost button! I should take a class.

    I admire you.

    I just hand things to my mom to sew or buy a new one. 😉

    You can do it!! I am a self taught sewer, granted I have an aunt who has a turn of the century house as her sewing studio so if I have an issue I can ask her, but you can do it!!!

    And wow, the place looks great, love the changes.

    Sorry I have been MIA – work is taking up too much of my blogging time – darn it all anyway 🙂

    I think it looks great! But then again, I haven’t sewn anything since 7th grade when I made a pair of shorts with legs of two different lengths. heh.

    I’m sure it will turn out great 🙂

    I have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine. And there are always some choice profanities slung around when I lug that thing out.

    I’m impressed with what you’ve gotten done so far. Looks great to me!

    Hey girl!! VERY impressive!! No pics of the final product…you HAVE finished it, right?? Good seeing you the other day…we need to schedule some time..UGH!! Anywhoo, I think you have done an EXCELLENT job so far so don’t be discouraged! Garment construction is never exact and some patterns SUCK, so don’t automatically think it is something you did wrong! 🙂 P.S. You know you can call me if you get stuck!!
