A couple of months ago I handed K the Oriental Trading catalog that happened to come in the mail and told her to pick a theme for her birthday party.
I did this with an almost-four-year old little girl. It was pretty fun to watch her page through it and say “Oooh, I want this!!” about 50 bajillion times. And then the catalog came apart, you know, from all the page-flipping.
Of course she chose 5-6 different themes, including rainbow unicorn and pink cowgirl and ponies and even glanced at the Sophia the princess stuff. But she kept landing on good old fashioned Princesses time and time again. So I chose for her because we were not having a multi, multi-themed party. Momma don’t play that. (Also, I totally called it. I mean, hello, she’s a total Princess).
I didn’t really “go all out” this time, but I still think her party was quite cute and fun. We had a princess bounce house (they even upgraded us to one with a slide inside!), pink everywhere and great friends to celebrate with us.
Not to mention homemade cake (yes, I did bake it from scratch and yes, there may have been a few sticks of butter involved).
And yes, it was really good.
The party also came with costume changes from K who went from being “Belle” to “Cinderella” within an hour’s time. This girl truly cracks me up, in a wonderful way.
Thanks to K’s friends for joining us at the party, even the boys who were brave enough to enter the Princess’ castle…
What a precious party!! Happy Birthday to your beautiful Princess K!!!!
What an amazing party, Elaine!! The cake looks Ah-Mazing.
Very cute! Looks like she had fun and a princess party sounds like it was a good choice.
So cute and not overdone at all!
Also, I love that you were actually in a photo with her. Two birthdays with my boy and I don’t think we have one decent shot of me with him during his party. (Must change that next year.)
Love the outfit changes LOL. Girls!
Wish we lived closer as I’ve got a 4 year old wanting to try out that jumpy castle!!! Happy Birthday!!!
oh my gosh, your daughter is beyond beautiful…and I love living vicariously (my dream of a daughter) through you.
and I LOVED THE CAKE , I could almost taste it
thanks for sharing her PRINCESS party with us.
Of course she’s a princess! What a fun party and happy birthday to K.
So much fun, and so PINK! Cute! (We LOVE Oriental Trading. LOVE.)
What a wonderful party – she’ll cherish this memory forever.
You inspired me to pick up an Oriental Trading Company catalog and have our son choose.
Love the little sandwiches. Perfect touch. And now I want a piece of that cake. (My kids do the same thing with the OT catalog.)
This isnt possible. She was just born…like yesterday……
Super-cute princess!
I love how great everything came together and that it wasn’t over the top. So cute.
This looks like the perfect little girl birthday party! And I love that you made your own cake!!
So fun!
Looks like such a great party! And the rice krispies treats are super adorable…and you’ve given me an idea for this weekend!
Happy birthday again, K!
She is adorable and everyone looks like they are having a fun time! Those are the best kind of birthday parties!
Oh how I miss those little kid parties! (My kids are 16 & 13.) Looks like the perfect party. Those sandwiches were fab and that cake looked delicious. (And I don’t really even like cake – but you had me at butter!) Great pictures. Thanks for sharing!
I had to open this post in secret because once I saw your title, I knew my daughter would flip. And she would! Bounce houses are her favorite. And a princess one! My mom used to get Oriental Trading catalog and I loved when it came. Good memory. And you really made her dreams come true with the details – glass slipper sandwiches? I die. I may need to buy that cutter.
What a wonderful party you put together! Your princess is adorable!
Looks like such a fun party! Love the little sandwiches. Only so many years she will want a princess party so very good idea to go with it
What a beautiful party! Can I be your daughter and you could throw me a princess party?
So cute and so much fun!
Everything looks so wonderful and the cake was so pretty!
