Plan a Trip with your Man/Woman/Partner ASAP!

December 30, 2011 by Elaine

When Tim looked at me in October with weary eyes and said, “I need a break, let’s go somewhere” I of course said, “Yes, LET’S!”

I LOVE to travel and have my parents to thank for this, since they do as well.  We went on a family vacation pretty much every summer of my life, even if it was just down to the Texas coast.  Once I was in high school it was usually just the three of us and we went to D.C., on a cruise, etc.

All this to say that I will NEVER turn down a trip.  So when Tim and I decided to go to New York City in December I will admit I did some major internal “Squeeing”.  And outward too, for that matter.

See, we both needed a break, together.  And we both believe it’s very important to get time together, just the two of us, whether it’s simply a dinner date or in this case, a 4 day trip ALONE.  Thankfully we are blessed to have family who are willing to take care of our kids while we go. A MIL who does laundry and thoroughly cleans out the fridge while you’re gone? Yeah, awesome.

Anyway, I really want to tell you all now, how wonderful my husband is.

He surprised me with a limo from the airport, got us 7th row tickets to Wicked, took me on a romantic carriage ride through Central Park and ordered the perfect room service while staying at the Waldorf Astoria.  And yes, I was nice and shared.

I think he loves me. 😉

I know I love him.

And no, not every moment was “perfect” (I mean c’mon you gotta go the wrong way out of the hotel doors at least one cold morning, right??) but most of them were and this time together and these memories will last me a lifetime and I thank him so much for that.  We are fortunate that we can travel together like this and take time for one another.

I recommend it to anyone who can.

Just GO.

I think it is essential that you do take time off from being just Mom and Dad to being just the two of you. I so wish I can do that soon! So glad you had a fab time.

I still have dreams about our trip to CA in August. I’m hopeful we can make it an annual thing.

We keep talking about doing it…but I think kiddo #3 has sealed the no travel solo deal for a year. But, we do try to get at least a date night in every once and a while.

Looks like you both had a GREAT time.
