We had a whirlwind of a weekend.
I even think a little tornado went through my kitchen, what with the baking and barbecuing and just general party prep and happenings.
See what I mean? (that’s a lot of foil…)
All that really matters though is that my Little G had a good time and I believe he did.
He splashed around in the backyard with his friends (please forgive my lack of pictures, I was running around too much, being social and all and didn’t take any pics of the water fun) and enjoyed his ice cream cone cupcake, after licking the icing off of his candle.
Tim and I made the executive decision not to have G open gifts during the party, as is customary these days. It just always seems like such a circus when we’ve done that in the past. And the person most upset about this was The B Man, by the way…
Instead, we let him open them after all the guests (except for my parents) were gone and it was so nice because he could stop and really look at them and even played with a few. And his siblings got to help and watch!
Of course it had to rain in the morning (when it hadn’t rained in WEEKS!), much to both my and my barbecuing husband’s chagrin.
(yes, that’s him holding up a patio umbrella to protect his bbq pit)
But thankfully it stopped for the splash party and that was about it. Seriously. It then rained most of the afternoon and night.
All in all the party was a lot of fun but it took it right out of me. Hence the two hour Sunday afternoon nap. For both me AND Little G.
Here’s the only picture I managed to get of me and Little G together, a classic “self picture” taken on the afternoon of his third birthday.
Oh I could just smooch that sweet, THREE year old face all day! (his, that is… not my own! ha!)
It was a good day with new friends, neighbors and family.
In other words, a rousing success.
Linking up to Mommy & Me Monday at Krystyn’s place…
Love the ice cream cone cupcakes! Looks like you gave your little guy a great party.
Wow, what a great birthday. LOVE the ice cream cone cupcakes. I am going to have to remember that one.
Great job with the ice cream cone cupcakes.
Little G is SUCH a cutie!
I’ve always wondered why people opt to NOT do presents (as I’m always looking forward to seeing the person open what I got for them) but I do get it…I think.
Looks like a rousing success, though! Breate – it’s over! (Now to organize toys…:D)
Despite the rain…it looks like quite the success.
And, every year, I tell my hubby let’s wait on the gifts and every year he disagrees!
Love the cupcakes. Yum!
Happy Birthday to your little 3 year old! I love three!
Looks like such a great weekend.
sounds fantastic, what a great celebration!
That is an adorable photo of you two! Happy Birthday to your little man.
What a fun birthday party. Cracked up at your husband and the umbrella. Too funny!
Cute, cute, icecream cupcakes!
He’s such a cutie, Elaine! And I’m still in shock he is THREE?!
PS-totally want one of those cupcakes. Again. Lol.
Looks like the party was a smashing success…….minus the rain.
Running a toddlers birthday party and taking pictures are two things that don’t go together very well.
But it sounded like a blast, despite the rain and those cupcakes were adorable.
Happy Birthday G Man!
So fun!
A friend told me about a great beach party idea I might try sometime- have a cake. cut it, and serve it IN the cones… but I love the cones you made!
Steph
Hello super mommy! It looks wonderful! I’m most impressed…but then again after the mouse theme I decided you could do anything!
That looks like a perfect day! And, I love those cupcakes- so smart!!
P.S. Congrats on your Parents Picks pre-nomination! Go, you!! http://www.parentsconnect.com/parents-picks/best-parenting-blogs
I love a good party…and that sure does look like a good one! Love it that Tim didn’t let a little rain get in the way of his bbq magic.
Happy birthday to Little G.
we had a wild party weekend also.. as Little Man turned 5.
Great pics, looks like you all had so much fun, and your birthday boy – Happy Birthday to him! What a cutie!
