Oven-less

July 11, 2009 by Elaine

So, we’ve been without an oven since we moved into this house. I’m not sure if I’ve ever out-right said it but we are renting and right now…. Renting sucks. At least when you own a place you can get your stuff fixed on your time. And it’s turning out that Louisiana time is a lot slower than DFW time.

And you know what you can’t do without an oven? You CANNOT make ANY of these:

Cookies
Brownies
Cakes
Cupcakes

Never mind casseroles or baked chicken or any of that stuff. My mixer is feeling lonely people and I NEED to bake for mine and my family’s sanity sugar addiction.

So could someone please contact our landlord lady who seems to think that if it ain’t her oven it don’t need fixin’ anytime soon and light a pilot light under her A$$? ‘Cause I need me some homemade sweets. Stat.

(… can you tell I’m a littler ornery?)

An oven is vital! I can’t believe that wasn’t good to go when you got there. That’s outrageous.

That’s it! When I go to Houston next week, I’ll stop and bring you some thing! Now, I have to stop in Lafayette!

That really is outrageous! I’ve been renting for a sweet forever and have had really good luck with prompt “service”. Hopefully they get if fixed for you by Monday.

We survivied without a stove during a kitchen reno for almost an entire month, and it was HELLISH. I wasn’t pregnant though – that is just wrong on so many levels!

Can you hold the rent check until the oven is fixed?

Better yet, offer up some brownies for the landlord if the oven gets fixed.

    I feel for you.

Just trying to get caught up. Praying that things settle in for you all real soon. It is so hard to move somewhere new, my heart goes out to you.

Oh I would FLIP! I love to cook and to be without a oven for that long would surely make we want to place a fire under her a$$ for sure. :o) Good luck hun!
