Old School Blogging, Wrapping Up Summer

My boys went back to school today (and K starts on Monday!) so you know what that means right?  Even though technically, there is still over a month of Summer left, it’s over.  The lazy mornings and pool time and PJ days are a thing of the past.  Well, until next June anyway.

And here’s a bonus pic of them this morning.  Aren’t they cute?!

(psst… don’t tell the 5th-grader, he was all “are you going to put this on your blog?”  BTW, he has crossed over from saying that in an excited voice to being said in a tweeny, annoyed voice.)

I love Summer.  The weather here is actually pretty good and really the only thing you have to deal with are those surprise afternoon rain storms oh and big M Effin’ mosquitos.  That’s why it’s best to go to the pool in the morning. and invest in lots of OFF.  Just in case.

I also love the colors of Summer.  And traveling and relaxed schedules.  Both things help me feel less anxious and I like that.

This summer we traveled A LOT.  After June I didn’t schedule any camps or anything for the kids because I knew we were going to be on-the-go much of the time.  I’m not complaining, I am just remembering.  Since I love to go places, it was all good with me!

So, since Old School Blogging is BACK! (I know, YAY!) I figured we could wrap up our summer with a few questions.  How ’bout it? You in too?  I sure hope so!

Just copy and paste the questions below, answer them and then link up!  And grab the button in the side bar too…  So easy!

What was your favorite thing you did alone this summer?  I would have to say flying to and from BlogHer.  Being in first class sort of helped with that (thanks, Dear!).  Flying alone is just SO different than with kids, of course.  And in-flight wifi is also good. 🙂

What was your favorite thing you did as a family this summer? We went back to Canada.  There’s just no comparison to the fun my kids have there, with their cousins and at the lake.  (Okay, and me too…)

What books did you read this summer? I read The Fault in Our Stars and (finally) finished Bossy Pants (Tina Fey) on the flight to Canada.  I am currently in the middle of  Orange is the New Black and I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. I did not read as much as I wanted to this summer.

What do you WISH you had done this summer? This is hard one since I did so much… I guess I kinda wish I had exercised more.  I got out of my routine since the kids were home but of course got a little exercise while at the lake, pool, etc.  It’s just so hard to keep up with it when it’s so hot and well, when the kids are home.

What movies did you see this summer (if any)?  None that I recall…  Tim and I did watch “Breaking Bad” together though…  Man, that was a humdinger of a series! Also, I would still like to see “Boyhood”.

Where did you travel this summer?  Key West, FL, Canada, San Jose, CA,  New Orleans, LA and  Port Aransas, TX (Mustand Island)

What was your favorite treat (as in dessert) this summer? Ice cream cake that I made from ice cream sandwiches!  Also, why I should have exercised more…

What did you celebrate this summer?  Tim’s 40th birthday!!

Did you grow anything this summer?  A few tomatoes…

What is a favorite post (if you blog) that you wrote this Summer? This one:  What I Hear

What is a favorite photograph that you took this summer? Okay, I’m gonna cheat a little here and say I get three because A) It’s my blog and I can  and B) I LOVE to take photographs!! (DUH)

What do you want to do next summer? Maybe chill out more?  Perhaps go back to the Florida coast.  Exercise more. 😉  Oh and read more books.  At the beach.  Yeah.  That would be awesome.  (now to convince Tim we need a trip to Costa Rica…)

Don’t forget to spread the comment love (that seems kind of “old school” these days too!) and visit some of the other linkers as well!

And don’t forget to tweet with me – @elainea – and @jaimemckee using the hashtag #OSBlog!
