My Outing Today, This Weekend and ANOTHER Blog

Let me set the scene for you:

Three kids, including an infant IN an infant carrier. Toddler with “space & rockets” p.j.s and dirty socks. No shoes. Kindergartener still in school uniform and his coat (actually looking pretty good).

Mom who decides on a whim that it’s a good idea to drive to a certain retail establishment called after another word for “aged” and a division of the armed forces (fine, old navy), after school pick up, in 45 degree weather, probably 30- something with the windchill.

Mom who has NO make up on and while in the store realizes she didn’t even get a shower today. Sorry store patrons.

But WAIT! This is a success story!

Kids actually acted quite well. Toddler wore his brother’s OTHER coat over his p.j.s and didn’t look like THAT much of a vagabond AND stayed sitting in the cart. (This is nothing short of a miracle people). Baby didn’t cry, even though awake the whole time AND mom forgot her paci. Kindergartener only had to be found among the rounders a handful of times.

And the purchases! Mom found a cute coat for $29 and several other items for the kids on clearance AND a pair of shoes for herself, all for under $70.00!

You may have guessed that this was MY scene today.

I found myself at the register feeling a bit like that THAT mom. You know, the one I used to look at like “poor thing! She has no makeup on, slouchy pants and has to wrangle all those rugrats.” Yep, that’s ME!

But then the smartly dressed lady behind me in line asked me how old Little G was and all the sudden I felt less judged and a part of the womanly race again. We commiserated over toddlers (she had a 2 and 4 year old) and smiled knowingly to each other.

After my transaction was complete we made it to the car, down the busiest street in town and back into the warmth of our home without incident.

So about the only downside? Well, I STILL haven’t gotten a shower.

The title of this post promised more that ramblings about my shopping excursion so here you go.

I get to see Lisa this weekend!! We are meeting up for what I’m lovingly calling on twitter, #margaritas&mexicanfood10! We are a little sad to be missing out on the Northern get together, #cupcake10, and so we compiled our own “two-bloggers and one of ’em’s baby” tiny, itsy-bitsy mini conference. We plan to have several sessions on Why Toddlers Drive Us Crazy and Margarita – Salt or No Salt.

She looks ready to travel in her baseball-themed bib, no? All I can say is that she spits up A LOT and bygollyimrunningoutofbibs!!!

And if you are still reading this post, first of all, THANKS and second of all, I have ANOTHER blog now. I know, I know. Last week I was cutting down on my blogging and now this week I have TWO!

However, the other one is just to document the fact that I am joining the bandwagon and doing the 365 Project this year. Yep, at least a picture a day. I figure this way I can get REALLY friendly with my new camera. So, if you want to see what’s comin’ out of that bad boy on the daily, hit up my new place.

The 365 Project was inspired by this lady.
And the site to use was inspired by this lady.

Thanks ladies.

I haven’t quite figured out how to do the comment thing on the picture blog and that was a goal of mine this week (emphasis on WAS). If anyone has any advice I’d love to take it and of course thank you profusely.

K, I’m out.

Maybe you’ll see me (@elainea) and @MommyMo on twitter this weekend. You know, drunk tweeting. Drunk on life of course!! What the heck else did you think?
