It’s My Party and I’ll Skate If I Want To…

A few months ago I was at dinner with some girlfriends and I asked them to start brainstorming with me about what I could do for my 40th birthday.  I wanted to have a fun party that would take me back to my youth and make us all feel a just a tad younger for a little while.

My friend Sarah suggested a skating party and the rest is history.  I told Tim what I wanted to do and after making the initial call to the skating rink myself, he took over and planned the whole thing.

I will never forget how fun it was to watch my friends do the hokey pokey and turn themselves around or participate in one-skate racing!!  It was seriously the most fun I have had in a while, y’all!  I recommend a skating party to all most 40-year old friends (or anyone for that matter).  And total props to letting us rent the place out and no kids (mine or anyone else’s)!  I mean, I love my kids of course, but it was so fun to have my OWN party!

How rockin’ is this cake?!

So blessed with great friends!

Awesome party-planning husband!

Awesome friend who suggested a skating party!

We did the Hokey Pokey – SO FUN!

I am so thankful to all of my friends that made it out to the party, I had such a good time.  And of course I am so grateful to Tim for planning it all (with a little bit of help from some work friends – you know who you are, THANK YOU!)

I also want to say to all of you reading – please CELEBRATE your birthdays!  You will NOT regret having fun at any age.  Now is the time to enjoy and celebrate the life you’ve been given with those you love.  You get one day a year to yourself, make it the BEST and surround yourself with whatever makes YOU happy.  Who cares how “old” you are? Kids shouldn’t have ALL the birthday fun, right?  Right!  Sure, maybe you cannot have a big party or whatever, but still celebrate you in whichever way you can.  Your life IS worth celebrating.  Everyone’s is…
