Are ya totally over Christmas by now?
Well, then you better click away. (please don’t)
I took a break from the blog during the holiday but that means that I got a tad behind on posting some pics that I wanted to share and record for posterity – you know, the main reason I have this here blog.
Plus, once the kids got out of school, the day completely sneaked up on me because school was done on Friday and then, HEY!, Monday was Christmas Eve!
I know you know what I mean.
Anyway, in those few days we packed some Christmas-y stuff IN.
On Friday I had both K’s school song fest in the morning and then G’s Kindergarten Christmas party. Oh, and the night before I quickly made K’s skirt (don’t be too impressed, easiest pattern ever).
Her little pose kills me. She sang pretty well for the first few songs, especially “Away in a Manger” – even using hand motions – but then she and the rest of the 3 year-olds were like “whatever” and just kinda stood there. They were still adorable though. 🙂
At G’s party the kids (including K) made crafts and decorated Christmas “wreaths” (donuts).
Later that afternoon we went to our friends’ house to decorate cut-out cookies. To say my kids had a bit of sugar that day is probably the understatement of the new year. I coulda just opened there mouths like baby birds and poured 10 to 20 tablespoons in, but of course that’s just not as much fun…
On Sunday evening we headed out to a local Christmas light festival/fair.
And when we got home that night we hastily put together our much-anticipated gingerbread house.
Which turned out to be a chocolate, peppermint house and well, frankly it was quite lame and fell apart before we even got it done. But the kids were still good sports about it. Probably because there were gingerbread man peeps and candy canes involved. Such troopers… 😉
On Monday we did some baking and making of treats and then I sang at church that evening while Tim sat with all kids at Christmas Eve mass by himself. Also a trooper. They were pretty good for him except that apparently K wanted to come “see mommy” while I was singing.
And then on Christmas day, Santa cooked (hee hee!) and there was much merriment and gifts. Santa may have lost his mind a little this year, actually…
I think my living room has mostly recovered. It was touch and go there for a bit though…
So that’s our Christmas in a nutshell crazy long post.
Hope yours was equally as festive, tasty and messy!

I love that the 3 year olds got bored of singing and went meh. Hehe.
Also, your baked goods look SOOOO good!
And the Christmas tree cookie is amazing.
Your living room looks loved. That is a good thing. 🙂

Your pictures are beautiful. I love the Christmas skirt. The best part about Christmas is getting your house back when it is all over!
We just got rid of one of those “ride on” horses. It had been hanging around our house for about 3 years (my youngest is now 6). I can say I was sorry to see Horsey go!
Happy New Year!

New follower here. i loved the skirt! Even if it was easy it is that it looks great and you completed it which is more that I can say for some of my handmade stuff.
Maybe next year I will try the gingerbread house for fun too.
So great to see all that bustle all over the floor at christmas time.
So glad I found you.

Your Christmas looks awesome!
And such a cute dress.
Totally random, but I don’t think you’ve shown your living room from that angle before. I love how open it is.

Looks like such a fun holiday. I’m really jealous that you can do messy stuff like decorate cookies outside in December. Most of our outdoor holiday activities had to be scrapped up here because it was cold and wet.

What a great Christmas! 🙂
