I am ahead of the game this year and already have our Christmas cards ordered.
I know, I rock.
A couple of weekends ago we set up the tripod at the “old horse farm” that is next door to our neighborhood. It was land that the local university used in days past for well, horses.
Anyway, what was a “Hey honey, let’s go get a family picture” turned into a full-fledged photo shoot. Why was my husband so surprised by this?
I honestly have NO idea. Doesn’t he KNOW me at all?
The kids ran around and found the swing under the huge live oak trees that someone must have put there many years ago, and the weather was quite perfect for photos.
So, Mama was a happy woman. You know, in my element and what not.
Plus jelly bean bribery is always a good idea.
Oh, and a camera remote can be your best friend.
These are great photo tips, right?
You are going to want to Pin this post RIGHTNOW, for future reference, I just know it!!
For some reason(s) I decided NOT to include the shot below.
Hmmm, wonder why…
Once again I say, God bless digital photography!
Are your Christmas/Holiday cards ordered? Do you have a camera remote?
p.s. Happy Thanksgiving!!
hahaha! Too funny. I love bloopers. If I know my client or if I know their personality pretty well, I’ll sometimes show them bloopers. They’re the best.
The one you used is beautiful!
Tamara recently posted…It’s Because You Care.
I have done that before too! I think the bloopers show real personalities and I adore that.
I actually do kinda want to pin that. It’s a great “what not to do” image.

Go for it!
You are awesome! Way to be on the ball. That photo of the kids is GORGEOUS!
And no. I do not have my Christmas cards done yet, thankyouverymuch. I am still in the prepping stages for the TWO Thanksgivings I have to host at my house this week. BAH!
Hope you and you family have a lovely Thanksgiving!

Hope you had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving, Kat! and thank you!
I love that you put that picture out there! Yep, good points too!

Well, they are not all winners and I like people to know that we have these kind of moments too.
My photos are far from ordered. I keep going on Shutterfly and browsing cards and then I call it quits.

It’s SO hard to decide!! Thankfully I found one I liked that coordinated with our outfits so… that was the winner!
HAHAHAHA!! I love K’s pretend napping and G’s duck face. You guys are adorable.
(and yay for being on the ball with the Christmas cards!)

Those kids are crazy. But then, so am I so… ;-p
Love it!! Your kids are so adorable.
I’m breaking out the tripod and the remote this weekend and I’m so nervous. Two year olds are just insane. Maybe we’ll send one out with no Caroline this year.
Happy Thanksgiving!! xoxo

I hope it went well! I know what you mean about 2 year olds. But I really hope you include her, even if she is running off in the pic…
And thank you! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!!
I don’t even have the picture taken! I am pathetically behind! My oldest hates to have his picture taken and usually looks like someone has told him the worst news ever, and my youngest makes faces and photobombs everything (which is actually kind of funny).

I agree, photo bombs are funny. What makes your oldest laugh? You should surprise him with that.
absolutely, positively CUTE , every single one of you.
Happy Thanksgiving sweet friend.

Oh, you’re too sweet.
Hope you’re thanksgiving was amazing, my friend!
Hoping to get photos done this weekend. Our family now includes a ten week old Lab puppy, so it should be interesting! Love the remote, but have to remember to hide the remote in the picture… my first few attempts last year had me obviously pointing the remote at the camera.
100% with you on the digital photography! The first photo is just gorgeous! And the family portrait with sleeping child? Ha! I may have to pin that one! xo

You know what… I have had a remote on my wish list for a couple of years now. I think that I will just break down and buy one for myself. Then I won’t have to set the timer and run!

You should totally just get one, they are only like ten bucks!
I think that’s the one you should have sent!

I am behind this year b/c our photos got postponed b/c of the weather so hopefully we’ll get them done in time!

Dude, that was the shot that you needed to send. OMG. That is hilarious! We only send ridiculous cards. On Chunky’s first Christmas, we put him in a wrapped box and had the dog sit beside him with a sign that said “Please return to Santa. Love Champ” and my son was giggling in the picture. It was awesome.

Sometimes the blooper reel makes better photos than the “good” ones. And by “better” I mean “blackmail material.”
I have a camera remote and I love it.
My Christmas cards are nowhere near ready to be ordered. I need to do photos with the kids ASAP which means I need to get Christmas outfits ASAP. But if I get them out I’ll still be a step ahead of where I was last year.
Jennifer @ Also Known As…the Wife recently posted…Prioritizing
Funny! I despise family photos. I WANT them! I want the Christmas card! I do. But the task of getting everyone in a photo is such a downer.

I’m loving the what not to do image!
And, no pictures here or cards. I think I’m going to hold off and do a happy new year/happy baby card:) I hope that gets me off the hook.
And, no remote, either! I do the timer and run:)

Elaine, After having to reschedule our family pictures 5 times due to weather, my pictures are still with the photographer being edited. I will be order our pictures this weekend…fingers crossed!
I will totally give an Amen to your comment about digital photography! I do not have a camera remote but you just gave me something to add to my list. Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh those are wonderful photos – for completely different reasons. The second is funny and reminds me of what most of ours would look like – I can see the pretend napping and faces now! The one on the swing is gorgeous! I will have to remember to get a remote when I get my DSLR one day – much better than running into the frame.

So cute! Our town’s tree lighting is tomorrow and I hope to get a couple shots. Otherwise I think I might just say whatever to the Christmas card photo this year … we shall see!
