I imagine Emily Post rolled over in her grave last week when I invited everyone to The B Man’s last-minute birthday party via email and text. Even I was a tad mortified. But I knew it was “now or never” on the party and since we were no longer traveling to Austin for the half marathon, I planned a party in three days.
LEAST. STRESSFUL. PLANNED. PARTY. IN. MY LIFE. EVER.
You probably don’t believe me and that’s fine, but it’s true because the stress? It only lasted for like 48-ish hours versus days and days, so I’m totally right.
I may do it this way every time.
And believe it or not, everyone I so not properly invited was able to make it! God bless ’em for being so flexible and understanding and free on Friday night!
The kids bowled a little and played games the rest of the time and my almost 8-year old boy won the 500 ticket jackpot! Oh and there were presents and Angry Birds cupcakes. What more could a boy want?
They even had bowling shoes in K’s size!
And Little G was determined to win a little “golden chick” out of this machine but sadly he never got his prize.
Oh and I decorated these to look like “Speedy”, which is B’s favorite Angry Bird. (not sure if that his really “his” name but that is what the boys call him so… I mean do they even have names???)
I say I “decorated” them because I did not bake them. But I did make them look pretty awesome so I’m talking full credit for that.
It was a great little party for my now eight-year old boy.
And I know this because he told me so. That just warms a Momma’s heart…
P.S. Please pray for those in Texas affected by today’s tornadoes, including my Mother-in-law and Brother-in-law and several of our friends. I can hardly believe the pictures and videos I have seen… But I am so thankful that everyone is okay!!

Amazing! And Yay! And? Happy Birthday to your awesome big boy! xo
Yup, you’re the best speedy party planner ever! Everything looks awesome and fun!
Glad your family are okay, re: tornadoes.
How fun! I love bowling parties.
Those cupcakes are too cute!! Great job.
I’m so glad your family is okay. I saw some footage and it’s just so scary.
Bowling parties, rock. You did a fantastic job “decorating” (ahem I’m not a cupcake baker either, lol) the cupcakes. AND they SHOULD have names.
I said a prayer for your fam and friends down in Texas. I hope they are safe.
The cupcakes are ADORABLE, and it looks like the whole party was a big success. Way to go!
I have to agree that the last minute parties are the least stressful – and yours looks like it was so much fun!! Happy Birthday to your little man!
The Fountain of Youth Revisited
I think to an 8-year-old, the 500-ticket jackpot is like winning the MegaMillions would be for a grownup. What an awesome birthday surprise.
AMAZING! Love those cupcakes. I have a few angry bird fans in my house too. May have to steal the idea!
Looks like the party was a success and really the hardest part of making cupcakes is the decorating. Lots of prayers for those in Texas.
You did a great job on those cupcakes. Great thought about minimizing the stress.
Seriously fabulous birthday party!
And hooray for less stress and more amazing cupcakes!
Love!

Thinking about your family in Texas. xoxo
What an amazing party my friend.
