I love watching certain movies at the holidays. In my family it became a tradition to watch A Christmas Story on Christmas Eve every year. That was solidified when a certain cable channel started playing it non-stop for 24 hours several years ago. It did not matter if it was the scene where he sticks his tongue on the frozen pole or the one where the dad opens the ever-awesome leg lamp, we were laughing – together.
One of my favorite movies to watch at Christmas is Love Actually. Tim loves White Christmas and the kids love any of the Santa Claus movies with Tim Allen. Miracle on 34th Street is also a family favorite. I like the old version but we tend to watch the newer one more often. The kids watched in on Friday night (okay I did too) and I just love the part when the little girl says, “I’m going to bed uncharacteristically early.” So precious. and I also love that the entire movie evokes the magic of Santa Claus and the joy he brings to children (and adults).
When I was a kid we watched Rudolph and Charlie Brown Christmas and Frosty the Snowman. The abominable snow monster still freaks me out a little.
The kids also watched Curious George – A Very Monkey Christmas last weekend and even though it’s geared toward younger kids, B watched some of it too. George is just such a cutie.
Of course sometimes this happens while watching… 😉
There are SO many holiday movies streaming on Netflix right now that you and your family can enjoy, curled up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa and some popcorn (my favorite way to watch movies).
Check these out!

And… have you thought about how you’ll be ringing in 2015 yet? Netflix is excited to usher in this new year with brand-spankin’ new episodes of All Hail King Julien. My kids laugh so hard at this guy from the Madagascar movies. His new series has already begun so head on over to Netflix to check it out!
Now for the giving part of the season and a Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas from me (and Netflix)… I am giving away a free year subscription to Netflix!
Leave a comment telling me your family’s favorite Christmas/Holiday movie and enter to win! It’s that easy! 🙂

I love Christmas movies too. Though it’s been hard finding good movies that the littlest ones can enjoy. We just found the Curious George movie this year, and the 2-year old still sings “Christmas Monkey” nonstop. At least she’s stopped with singing “Let it Go”, right?

My kids love the Prep & Landing short movies. Love them. I like them too. Pretty cute.
I love Love Actually (and if you like that movie you should definitely see About Time- same producers and it is AH-mazing). I also love The Family Stone, though I know you aren’t fan of that one. SJP’s character is a buzzkill in the movie but the rest of the movie is gold.
A Christmas Story is an all time favorite. So good. And I love National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation too. That one cracks me up no matter how many times I watch it.
If you have never seen Serendipity you absolutely MUST watch it. It is a fabulous Christmas/winter movie. It is a must see for me every year. I was just watching it this morning as I started wrapping presents (only got a few packages done before I have to run out again- ACKK!). Put that on your list for sure!

My kids have actually watched 2 different ones over and over again this year. It was Elf and Home Alone. They just recently watched Home Alone 3 after watching #2 so many times. Having 5 kids, being a single dad and having them all agree on these tv movies was great for me. Thank you for the chance at winning for them
