My middle child has been on a baking kick for several months now. As a matter of fact, the last time we went to the library (and he got his own library card) the only book he wanted to check out was one with cookies recipes. He is so my son. 😉
Before we had to return it, he made only one recipe out of the book, and it was the one for chocolate chip cookies. Now, I will give you the name of the book this recipe was in, to be fair to the publishers and all*, but just know that my kid has a knack for this and there is no denying it. He has made this recipe twice now and both times these cookies came out excellent. Possibly better than I have ever made. They were perfectly soft and exceptionally delicious. Maybe it’s the milk.
(THE Best) Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
2 cups pre-sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups chocolate chips.
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
Add butter and sugar to bowl of standing mixer and cream together. Add milk and vanilla and mix until blended. Add one egg at a time and beat with mixer until well combined.
Now, gradually add flour mixture to bowl and blend until combined.
Add chocolate chips and fold them into dough with a spoon.
Place tablespoon scoops 2 inches apart on greased or non-stick pan or one lined with parchment paper.
Bake 12 minutes for chewy cookies or 15 minutes for crispy cookies.
When done remove with spatula and put on cooling rack.
Enjoy!
Honestly, I believe the key ingredient is the baker. I cannot even describe how good these are. I feel so blessed to have a kid who likes and wants to bake. Although my waistline is suffering.
P.S. he also makes muffins and scones and cinnamon rolls and biscuits.
P.P.S. I think part of the reason he likes to bake so much is so he can eat the fruits of his labor. No wait, I think that is most of the reason! HA!
*I lied about this because we already returned the book and I cannot find it online anywhere. Sorries.
And yes, LAST DAY of #NaBloPoMo – See y’all sometime in December, you know, whenever it strikes my fancy to write/post. YAY!
