I have some really amazing friends.
They are amazing because they share their lives with me and their hearts with me and their souls with me.
They are amazing how they put their whole selves out there and they put their stories out there.
To help others. To feel better. To help others feel better.
To be heard and to have those who may have no voice (such as their own children) be heard.
They put their words on this screen so that you and I can know we are not alone and that we are not too fat or too thin or too young or too old but that we are who we are and that we are worth something.
They make us feel empowered and strong and fabulous.
They have suffered loss and known triumph. They have taught us something and we have taught them too.
They have inspired us in ways we never dreamed. And made us smile on a lonely night when our husband is traveling and the kids are FINALLY in bed and all we really need is a friendly “tweet” or email or comment to make us feel better.
They have laughed with us while sharing a too-small hotel room and given us hugs that make our heart explode and put a smile on our face that is bigger than Texas.
They’ve squealed upon meeting us in a hotel hallway in the middle of Manhattan and when we have kissed their babies we realized that we have loved them from the time they were in their Mothers’ wombs.
We have cried with them and supported them and helped to heal their hearts even with the love we send from across the country, our hearts attached by invisible strings stretching near and far, covering thousands of miles just to say “I’m here for you”. And we have done the same for them.
They are bloggers. Just like you and me. They are people that without this place in cyber space, I never would have come to know otherwise.
They are nothing short of PHENOMENAL.
And they are my FRIENDS and the reason I traveled to NYC last week.
Absolutely, without a doubt THE reason.

Oh, I love these photos and I am absolutely jealous that you had all this fun without me, and in NYC to boot- wahhhhh!!! Seriously, girl, we met for the first time (I think, or maybe I am wrong) at Blogher 2009 Chicago, the ONLY Blogher event I have gone to. I am so thankful for the blogging world for giving me your friendship, and others too. xoxoxoxo

I love your reason for going and it is my reason too. I am so happy to call you a friend and that I get to spend time with you. I love our first night dinner tradition. I hope we get to do it every single year.

The conference was great!! This was my first year attending, but it certainly won’t be my last. It was great to look at your pics and know that I was there to share in the fun, even though I don’t know you. But I am a blogger 🙂

The worst part of BlogHer was having to remove my hand from your butt. It’s still sad.
Colleen says
HaHa!!! I was quite thirsty. BlogHer will do that to a girl.
Awesome pics of amazing ladies. So fabulous to finally spend a little time with you. I’m already looking forward to seeing you again next year in Chicago.

What a great post and what an amazing experience, I’ve heard such mixed reviews of the whole conference, but I LOVE to read the happy posts from those of us who made amazing connections. I wish I had the chance to sit and chat with you more – its hard when running from one party to the next I guess!!
Tricia O. says
I love this because you are absolutely right. The best thing about conferences like this is the community. The people are always the best part, even if it is management of the people by the powers that be that falls short.
Dumb Mom says
Did I comment on this post already? I don’t know, but if so I’m doing it again. Because I love it. And I think that your post shows the beauty of BlogHer even when it was maybe not the way some of us hoped it would be. I am happy I got to stay in your room one night. I am sad I didn’t get to take your photo. And that you weren’t feeling well (all better now, right?!), and that I don’t even know when I will see you again. Party at Amanda’s house!
Lisa Page Rosenberg says
Yes. And exactly. And yes!

The people are the only reason I sort of wish I could have gone. But hopefully will see most at Blissdom in Texas!!!

I swear I commented here…
What a wonderful time you ladies had..nice to see because I saw some not quite so awesome posts.
When I finally get my way to a BlogHer, squeeze me in your room, too, please?!?!
