A Friend of the Blog (Best) Kind. #HappyMamas

I found friends on the internet a while ago.  As the story goes, shortly after I started my blog a friend of a friend sent me an email about something and at the end of her message there was a link to her blog. Once I visited her space, I discovered she had links to many other blogs and this is where that phrase, “the rest is history” comes in.

Little did I know where the suggestion to start a “blog” from a friend at church in 2006 would lead me…

I had no idea about so many things and opportunities finding those other blogs would afford me.  But besides the writing opportunities, standing on stage and telling my story opportunities and even side income opportunities, probably THE best thing that has come out of this here blog is the friends.

People I would never have known otherwise.  People who have changed my life in ways I had no way of knowing so many years ago.

One of the people that I have met along this journey is Tracy.

Yes, this post is going to be a love fest between me and her so if you’re adverse to cheesy friend love you can stop reading now. I cannot imagine why you would be though.

Tracy is a mother like me (of three girls!).   She is a fighter (for what is right).  She is a dreamer (of the best kind).  She is a writer and photographer too.  Her photographs and words always pull me in and have since the beginning.  She writes about and takes photographs of her beautiful family and shares with her readers things that not everyone would be willing to share.  She is honest and real.  She believes, as I do, in body equality and making sure that everyone knows girls and women come in all different shapes and sizes. She goes to bat for those who are underprivileged and those who need help in other parts of the world.  She is a friend.  And a good one at that.

We met for the first time at Blissdom in 2011 and the other day she had this to say about me on FB:

Huge shout out of love to one of the dearest women in the world. I met Elaine Alguire at my first blog conference – Blissdom back in the year 1492 I believe. I was overwhelmed and feeling alone and carrying my lunch plate scanning the room for a face so I could sit with someone. Please god, don’t let me sit alone. And this voice came across from a few tables away…”Sellabitmum..Tracy? Is that you? It’s Elaine…from Twitter…” And I just wanted to melt into her lap forever as she invited me to sit with the group of amazing women surrounding her. We’ve been dear blog and IRL friends ever since. I can’t imagine a warmer, more real, kind, and beautiful soul as Elaine. Thank you for being there. For being selfless. For being real. For being you.

I’m so very glad I called her over that day.

She was also one of my roomies at BlogHer 12 in NYC and even though I did not get to sleep with her, I did get this photo so… you know, I’ll take what I can get. 😉

Since Tracy is a great friend, wonderful mother and someone I truly admire I decided she should get a little treat.  Thankfully, as one of the Happy Mamas, I was able to gift her with some delicious chocolate covered strawberries from Shari’s Berries!  Don’t they look so good?  I hope these made you feel extra special Tracy, thank you for being such a great friend and inspiration and for all you do!! XOXO

Shari’s Berries helped us spread joy to some of the Happy Mama’s in our lives and we know they can help you too. Check out their wonderful assortment of delicious goodies and choose something for the special women in your life who help you find joy on your mothering journey.
