Oh The Bangs – #SeniorHottie

May 25, 2011 by Elaine

I’m joining in on the totally rad, out of this world  #SeniorHottie carnival at a belle a bean and a chicago dog .

It’s no lie that I love a good look back…

I loved high school.  Well except for Freshman year.  It quite sucked actually (socially anyway, I always did well in my studies). It was THE only year I had to ride a bus to school and I remember crying at the homecoming dance that year because I didn’t have a date.  And my best friend did.  But of course.

I was in the choir all four years and that was my saving grace.  By the time I was a senior I was in the Show Choir (yes, I do love GLEE, thankyouverymuch) and quite popular, within the choir anyway.  And in all honesty I’m quite fond of my senior photo.

However.

High school is a journey and it took some time to find myself.

Like four years or so…

This photo was taken at the start of high school.

See any resemblance to the photo for the carnival??  HELLO EYE GLASSES THAT TAKE UP HALF MY FACE.

And those bangs took time people. TIME.

And so MUCH hairspray.  Memories of my curling iron coated in Vidal Sassoon Mega Hold.  So many memories… And they had to be JUST right or I would go into “OH MY GAH MY BANGS LOOK HORRIBLE TODAY” tizzy.  Obviously I had WAY too much time on my hands back then.

Thankfully bangs sorta went out of style by the time I graduated. And I traded the glasses (sophomore year) for contacts. Phew.

I kinda think I WAS a senior hottie.  I mean I had THREE guys ask me to the homecoming dance that year.  I must’ve done something right…

Let’s hear it for Class of ’93!! 😀

Please join us and share your senior hotness, I know Liz and all of us would LOVE to see it!

Oh my I remember the half-bang trend! You did rock it quite well. The eyeglasses, to be fair, was in trend then (I’m guessing!).

Loved your soft blonde hair in the 2nd picture. No wonder you had 3 invites!

    That takes dedication!
That takes a lot of hairspray!
I had similar glasses and at the time they were sooo cool!

    Also?

I went from awkward in my junior high geek cocoon to something resembling hot by my senior year as well. I think I knew you in high school, we were in band together 🙂 I LOVE that you linked up, and you are so right about the curling iron coated in hair spray. Ew.

I don’t know who the genius was who invented those goggles. I still have mine just so I can entertain my kids with them.
Minus the glasses though, you are beautiful! Not that you weren’t beautiful with the glasses, but I think we can safely agree that your face wasn’t even visible for all that glass 🙂

  31. KLZ says

    May 26, 2011 at 11:54 am

You were a senior hottie! And that blue is gorgeous on you!

  32. Ash says

    May 26, 2011 at 8:37 pm

Did you make a deal with someone, because seriously, you barely look any older today than you did in your smokin’ senior shot. Seriously.

I love this link up! It’s a shame my mother has all my teenage pictures. And I don’t have a scanner. A shame 😉

  33. Erin says

    May 27, 2011 at 2:18 am

You ARE a hottie….dang 3 invites? I think I got ONE for all 4 years!! And I can’t even imagine how long those bangs took!!

  34. Liz says

    May 27, 2011 at 2:22 am

Darlin, this is one of my faves. I laughed pretty good at that first photo. Yes, the glasses were huge, but I love how the top part of your bangs was just on half your head. Just the right side of your noggin got vertical. 🙂

And I totally remember spraying my hair while in the curling iron!

  35. Dana @ WhatWereWeThinking? says

    May 27, 2011 at 2:27 am

Love the bangs! You totally did a 180° by your Senior year! Beautiful!

I don’t think I was ever asked to Homecoming…I had to do the asking if I wanted a date to a dance.

  41. Emily says

    May 20, 2012 at 2:23 pm

So awesome! Took me an hour to get my bangs to the right shelf level… they were literally OUT of the picture frame my freshman year. Thank God I decided the CA surfer girl look was cuter than the “hair bear” look sophmore year and tossed the hairspray out. Love this post… and you were definitely a senior hottie 🙂 (Me: Class of 1994)
